FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAN (Jan. 29/30, 2022 This Wednesday, February 2 is the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. The Mass for this feast includes a blessing of candles. We will bless the candles that will be used throughout the year here at St. Christopher Church. Everyone is invited to bring candles and have them blessed for their home. This Thursday, February 3 is the memorial of St. Blaise. He was a physician who was martyred during the persecution of Emperor Licinius. St. Blaise is invoked for diseases and troubles of the throat. We will have the blessing of throats after Mass on Thursday. January 30 - February 4 is Catholic Schools Week. We have a great Catholic School in Marquette, Father Marquette Catholic Academy. Our parish is one of the supporting parishes of FMCA. Please visit their website to find out more about FMCA: https://www.fathermarquette.org/. This week is also a good time to offer our gratitude to the Lord for the great blessings of the former St. Christopher School. The sacrifices of so many, including the teaching faculty, the staff, and benefactors provided excellent spiritual and intellectual formation to many students over the years. As Poverty Awareness Month continues, take time to learn more about poverty in the United States, understand the root causes and how people are helping themselves and others out of Poverty USA. http://www.povertyusa.org/learn. Because of the surge of COVID infections and hospitalizations in our area we are asking everyone to wear N95 or KN95 face masks. These masks are more effective at preventing the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant. Cloth masks do not provide sufficient protection against the Omicron variant. If you do not have a N95 or KN95 face mask, we have KN95 masks available at the entrances of the church. Have a blessed week,Fr. Dan
