FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAN...... Thank you to everyone who attended our synod session last Wednesday. Special thanks to Sr. Rosalie for leading this session for us, for accompanying us in walking the synodal path and for infusing a spirit of synodality in our parish. This Monday, July 25, is feast day of St. Christopher, our patronal feast. St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers and motorists. It is also a special feast for me because both my grandfathers and my father retired from General Motors (Saginaw Parts Plant, Saginaw Transmission and Saginaw Steering Gear), both of my brothers work for General Motors (Fairfax Assembly, Kansas) and I worked in the Saginaw steering plants a couple summers during college. In Paris near where the first Citroën automo&ve factory was located the local parish is dedicated to St. Christopher (Paroisse Saint Christophe de Javel). The factory has since been closed and has been turned into a park, but the parish till exists. To commemorate our patronal feast we will have a blessing of automobiles after the Masses this weekend. Anyone who prefers to continue wearing masks in church is encouraged to do so. KN95 masks are available at the church entrances. Let us continue prayer for one another and support each other as we continue to move through the pandemic. Have a blessed week, Fr. Dan
FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAN....... This Wednesday (7-20-22) at 6:30pm, is our next synod listening session. Sr. Rosalie will lead the session. This will be at ime of prayer and listening. At the opening of the World Meeting Of Families in Rome last month Pope Francis reminded us that the task to build a listening Church must begin within the family, he said "Put yourselves in listening. Let yoursleves be transformed by Him, so that you too can transform the world and make it "home" for those who need to be welcomed, for those who need to meet Christ and feel loved. Anyone who prefers to continue wearing masks in church is encouraged to do so. KN95 masks are available at the church entrances. Let us continue prayer for one onother and support each other as we continue through the pandemic. Have a blessed week, Fr. Dan.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers of our parish. As we remember our fathers today it is a good time to invoke the patron saint of fathers, St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus and the patron of the Universal Church. This Monday at 6:30 P.M. is our next synod listening session. Sr. Rosalie will lead the session. This will be a time of prayer and listening. The USCCB documents on the synod states that the role of a pastoral leader is to “accompany Catholics in your community in walking the synodal path and to infuse a spirit of synodality and dialogue in your local settng (www.usccb.org/resources/Unpacking%20Synodality.pdf).” I am grateful that Sr. Rosalie is assisting our parish in this path. Thank you to everyone who supported the Care Clinic Baby Bottle Boomerang Drive. Bottles can be returned to the labeled plastic bin in the back of the church. Have a blessed week, Fr. Dan
FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAN - June 11/12, 2022 On Pentecost I announced that Sr. Rosalie Hughes, SPC will be taking on a new leadership position in our parish, Director of “Mission & Synodality”. To help understand this position I have included some quotes below of the Holy Father that address Mission and Synodality. During his 2022 trip to Malta, Pope Francis said that the Church's mission is not about numbers, but evangelizing. In 2019 Pope Francis said that “Another feature of authentic mission is to facilitate, not to complicate. Mission does not add ‘unnecessary burdens’ on people who are already worn out, nor does it impose ‘demanding programs of formation, in order to enjoy what the Lord gives easily.’” The Holy Father said that “mission means reaching people ‘right where they are and just how they are’ - and the ‘sensus fidei’ of the people of God, and special care for the little ones and the poor, which is not optional.” In an address to the Roman Curia last year the Holy Father said that “The Synod wants to be an experience of feeling ourselves all members of a larger people, the holy and faithful People of God, and thus disciples who listen and, precisely by virtue of this listening, can also understand God’s will, which is always revealed in unpredictable ways. Yet it would be wrong to think that the Synod is an event meant for the Church, as something abstract and distant from us. Synodality is a ‘style’ to which we must be converted.” Sr. Rosalie’s ministry will be to help us in our mission as Catholics, youth and adults, and guide us in the style of Synodality. I am also grateful to have a religious sister on our staff again who will serve in a pastoral ministry here. We will have a formal event soon to welcome Sr. Rosalie to our parish staff. Please mark your calendars for our next Synodal listening session. It will take place on Monday, June 20 at 6:30 P.M. in our parish hall. Sr. Rosalie will lead this session. This weekend we will continue the Care Clinic Baby Bottle Boomerang Drive. Bottles are available in the back of church and by the entrances. They can be returned to the labeled plastic bin in the back of the church the next weekend. Have a blessed week, Fr. Dan
FROM THE DESK OF FR. DAN....... Please mark your calendars for our next Synodal listening session. It will take place on Monday, June 20 at 6:30 P.M. in our parish hall. The General Secretariat for Synod of Bishops has proposed that we dedicate our daily prayer of every first Monday of the month precisely for this moment of grace, the Synod on Synodality. Pope Francis reminds us that: the synodal process is first and foremost a spiritual process: without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our discussions, our reflec, ons, our very discernment risks falling into the parliamentarianism, intellectualism and formalism. Our adoration this week, the first Monday of the month (5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.), will be dedicated to pray for the Synod on Synodality. Please see the following website for more informa,on: https://www.prayforthesynod.va. This weekend we will have the Care Clinic Baby Bottle Boomerang Drive. Bottles are available in the backof church. They can be returned to the labeled plastic bin in the back of the church next weekend. Have a blessed week, Fr. Dan
